TrueKin ("the app") is a family safety app that lets people share check-ins, location, and
financial-safety alerts with a small circle of people they choose. This policy explains what
information the app collects, why, and who it's shared with.
Information we collect
- Phone number — used to create your account and verify it's really you via a one-time SMS code.
- Name and username — the name and handle you choose so people in your circle can find and recognize you.
- Location — only when you actively check in or request help. TrueKin never tracks your location in the background or without your action.
- Financial safety alerts — with your permission, TrueKin reads notifications from your default messaging app and UPI/payment apps (like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm) on your device to detect bank debits, one-time passwords, and likely scam messages. TrueKin does not store the full text of your messages — only a classification (e.g. "bank debit detected") and, where relevant, a masked version with digits replaced (e.g. one-time codes are never stored or shown in full).
- Push notification token — used to deliver alerts to your device.
Who your information is shared with
Information you generate in the app (check-ins, alerts, financial-safety events) is shared only
with the people in your own circle — the family members or caregivers you explicitly add. We do
not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or other third parties.
Where your data is stored
TrueKin uses Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication) to store and sync your
account and circle data. Data is processed on Google Cloud infrastructure under Google's own
security and privacy practices.
Your choices
- Location sharing only happens when you choose to check in — you can deny location access and use the rest of the app.
- Financial safety alerts require you to separately grant "Notification access" in your device settings — you can revoke this at any time, which stops the feature entirely.
